In 2009 (Sophomore): Maddie battled injuries
throughout the season but still managed to pitch a solid 137
innings with a career-best 135 strikeouts...started 25 games and
wrapped up the season with an 11-12 record with three
shutouts...pitched 7.0 innings without allowing an earned run
against Bradley (3/17) and followed that up with a two-hit shutout
and 11 strikeouts against Tennessee Wesleyan (3/19) to help her
earn OVC Pitcher of the Week Honors...struck out a career-high 13
batters against Kennesaw State (2/14)...at the plate, hit a double
and drove in six RBIs on nine hits...earned a spot on the OVC
Commissioner’s Honor roll and the Athletic Director’s
Honor Roll.
In 2008 (Freshman): Maddie earned the number two
spot in the pitching rotation, starting 23 games on the mound...had
106 strikeouts in 161.1 innings pitched, including an 11 strikeout
performance against TSU...threw four shutouts and had a streak of
21 consecutive scoreless innings...at the plate, had 12 RBIs and a
home run, batting .192 for the season...she was named to the OVC
Commissioner’s Honor Roll, OVC All-Newcomer team and the OVC
All-Tournament team.
High School: Maddie played softball and volleyball
at Baylor High School...lettered five years in softball for coach
Kelli Smith while playing pitcher and first base...was named to the
all-state team all four years and helped Baylor win three
consecutive state championships from 2003 to 2005.
Personal: Madeline Renee Schmissrauter is the
daughter of Kurt and Julie Schmissrauter of Chattanooga,
Tenn...birthday is March 15, 1989...majoring in child & family
